Established in Vienna, Austria, in 1892 by brothers Emanuel and Josef Braun, E. Braun & Company started as a ready-to-wear clothing and fine linens brand. 20 years later, the brand expanded to Germany and Czech Republic and became a supplier to the court of Prince August Wilhelm of Prussia. With eminent customers such as composer Richard Strauss and artist Eugène Ionesco, E. Braun & Co. has always been synonymous with unrivaled standards of quality and impeccable service. In 1943, Gustav Oser, Emanuel’s grandson, opened a branch in New York City.
After graduating from NYU’s Stern School of Business and working on Wall Street, Elizabeth Barbatelli transitioned into the fashion worlds of Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis and Calvin Klein, before acquiring E. Braun & Co. in 1988 with her cousin and his wife. Together, they breathed new life into the brand and Barbatelli opened E.
