Gagosian: A multibillion-dollar art empire

Larry Gagosian’s successes in life are due first and foremost to his understanding of people. He has always had a knack for connections and lives for those special bonds he creates between collectors and the pieces of art they covet. However, Gagosian arrived to the art world in a circuitous fashion. In the 1960s, Gagosian was a student of English literature at the University of California, Los Angeles. Working odd jobs, but always with an eye on the trends of the times, he would print famous works of art and photographs by Diane Arbus and Lee Friedlander, among others.
